Danko Jones Speaks To The People, Plays For Canada
By: ChartAttack.com Staff

All summer we've been hearing about just how well our friends in Danko Jones have been doing in Europe. While the Danko fellas have oft complained that they're more appreciated overseas than here in Canada, there are still loyal pockets of rock 'n' roll disciples in their homeland and, damn it, we want some Danko action too. Luckily for fans in Central Canada, Danko Jones are planning a bit of a homecoming.

Danko and crew will return to Canadian stages at the end of this month for a handful of dates in Ontario and Quebec. After they're through, the boys will be heading back to Europe, where relative fame and fortune awaits.

While the Canadian dates are scant, there is plenty of other news coming from the Danko camp these days. As we've already reported Danko (the man) has recorded a spoken word album that he's planning to christen The Magical World Of Rock. The disc will be released on November 22 by Bad Taste/Danko Jones records.

Danko's second career as a spoken word artist is keeping him plenty busy. He's already done a spoken word tour of Sweden and Norway and is scheduled to speak at a huge festival once the Canadian tour dates are taken care of. The Crossing Borders fest in The Hague will be held in November and Danko will share the stage with prestigious types like Fugazi's Ian Mackaye and High Fidelity author Nick Hornby.

In other news, Danko Jones (the band) plan to go into the studio shortly to work on a new album. To tide fans over, there are plans to release a DVD in the spring of 2005.

Here's the low-down on Danko Jones' upcoming Canadian tour dates:

  • September 30 Hamilton, ON @ The Underground
  • October 5 London, ON @ Call The Office
  • October 6 Kingston, ON @ AJ's Hanger
  • October 7 Ottawa, ON @ Zaphod's
